Personal History: Brittany was born in Calgary, AB, but spent her childhood in Jakarta, Indonesia before moving back to Calgary. There she spent her time deeply immersed in music, beginning singing lessons with Patrice Barnes, performing in Storybook Theatre shows, competing in the Kiwanis Music Festival, and singing at the Calgary Stampede.

A strong vocalist, Brittany has advanced experience in jazz, folk, pop, musical theater, and spiritual music, as well as a piano improv background, and more recently building a therapeutic relationship with the guitar. As an adult Brittany turned her focus to charity work, supporting different organizations through her love and passion of music. This led her to discover Music Therapy and in 2012 Brittany moved to Vancouver to pursue her career as a Music Therapist.

Professional History: Brittany graduated from the Music Therapy program at Capilano University in June of 2018. She currently works as a contract Music Therapist at BC Women’s Hospital in addictions and mental health. Brittany has also had clinical experience on the Burn, Trauma, High Acuity, and ICU Unit at Vancouver General Hospital under supervision of Gemma Isaac, MA, RCC, MTA, developing a scientific, research based approach to supporting patients in medical care.

Work Philosophy: Brittany’s work as a Music Therapist comes from a deep place of empathy, compassion, and patience. She incorporates analytic, process-based Music Therapy techniques into her work, as well as a humanistic, holistic approach that focuses on supporting clients and patients in connecting emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of the self into healing. Brittany strives to create inclusive, safe, and supportive environments that foster beauty and meaning for all who participate in her sessions.
