Personal History: Christine grew up partially in White Rock, BC, as well as Brantford, ON. She began playing the piano by ear at age 3, and by age 9, was entered in piano and theory lessons. Christine has always had a passion for music and the arts, and has dabbled in many creative mediums over the years including: raiku pottery, oil painting, ballet, salsa dancing, swing dancing, drawing and sketching, photography, and pastels. Christine is a lover of nature and anything outdoors, weather it be kayaking up the Indian Arm, hiking up the Chief mountain, or simply strolling along White Rock beach. Her favourite animal in the world is her 15-yr-old cat named Scully.

Another of Christine’s greatest passions is helping others. For years she was interested in pursuing a career in the medical field, but couldn’t imagine life without music. During a seminar presentation while she was a student at Kwantlen, she heard about the music therapy program at Capilano University. “This is it!” she thought. “This is what I’m meant to do with my life”.

Professional History: Christine completed her Master of Music Therapy (MMT) from Wilfrid Laurier University in September 2010. Christine received her Diploma in Music, General Studies, majoring in piano, from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2004, and she completed her Bachelor of Music Therapy (BMT) studying piano, guitar, and voice, from Capilano University in North Vancouver in 2009.

She has experience teaching private piano and theory lessons, and has worked as a music therapist with a variety of populations including: children with developmental delays and disabilities, children diagnosed on the autistic spectrum, geriatrics, psychiatrics, palliative care, and long-term care.

Christine has been a practicum and intern student at: Burnaby Hospital, Kingsford Smith Elementary School, Youville Residence, Canuck Place, Freeport Hospital, Marion Hospice and Minoru Residence.

Christine currently holds contracts at: Peace Arch Hospital, Augustine House, Ocean View Care Home, Semihamoo House Society, and works with various private clients.

Work Philosophy: Christine’s theoretical approaches stem from a client-centered, humanist, and music-centered perspective. She approaches her work with a sincere appreciation for the value of human expression through music. She likes to work with clients ‘in the moment’, reflecting and supporting their musical expressions and ideas. Individual and group work is based on the needs and preferences of each client, and is tailored to meet their personal goals and objectives.

Personal Life Philosophy: Christine views the world with awe and wonder. Every person has the ability to express, to create, to explore, to contribute. Each soul is unique. The world is simply a truly amazing place to be.
